Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc

Chamonix cradle of mountaineering. Chamonix city which hosted the first winter Olympic games in history in 1924! Chamonix commune at the foot of Mont Blanc. Chamonix and its company of guides who gave the world among the greatest mountaineers:
Certainly this village of valley bottom, with its obvious mountain charm, deserves a visit.

From Chamonix, a whole series of excursions are possible and accessible to everyone (provided you do not have any contraindications at the altitude and are dressed accordingly) to discover the middle and high mountains.

🔴L'Aiguille du Midi and la Vallée Blanche.
Thanks to the cable car of the Aiguille du Midi one enters the fairyland of the very high mountain passing from the 1035 m of altitude of the village to the 3842 m of altitude of the summit. The 360° panorama of the Mont-Blanc massif is quite exceptional.
At the top a cafeteria offers simple catering but the view is…!!!!
From the Aiguille du Midi, discover the world of glaciers by flying over the Glacier du Géant with the Télécabine Panoramic Mont-Blanc, which leads to Pointe Heilbronner in Italy.

🔴 The Montenvers Train and la Mer de de Glace ("Sea of Ice")
From Chamonix one reaches the site of Montenvers, at 1913 m, by means of a small train with rack and pinion.
The view is magnificent on the glacier of the Mer de Glace, the Drus and the Grandes Jorasses.
From Montenvers you can reach the Mer de Glace either by a walking path, about 20 minutes walk (300 steps!), or by cable car.
The visit of the ice cave dug and cut each year in the heart of the glacier adds to the pleasure of the eyes that this curiosity provides the discovery of the life of the mountain people of the past.
The visit can be continued by the Crystal Gallery and the Alpine Wildlife Museum.
